Collaborations
Collaborations by leading experts in any field tend to produce the very best in build quality and design aesthetics. Over the past century In Japan some of the leading artists have collaborated at times to create remarkable pieces; usually where one artist creates the pot, and another paints it.
Examples include; Ikkou, Gekkou, Tonyo, Yusen, Seifu and Daisuke to name but a few.
Collaborative works tend to be special pieces, which are more highly sought after and collectable.

1. The Triskele Group
The Triskele group was created in 2016 by three great friends and incredibly talented potters; (left to right) Tom Benda of Sansai Bonsai Pots, Thor Holvila of Holvila Bonsai Pots, and Andrew Pearson of Stone Monkey Ceramics. All of whom are members of the European Bonsai Potter Collective, with profiles that can be viewed on the EBPC website.
To the left is the 'Triskele' stamp, a Celtic symbol representing; progress, unity and cycles. The 'Brothers in clay' decided to collaborate in two different ways: Triskele Pot Swap - Annually, each potter will create a few raw pieces in their own clays, which are later swapped and then embellished, finished and fired in the styles and kilns of another of the Triskele Group. A truly unique and innovative set of pieces were thus created. Triskele Travels - Annually, the Triskele group all meet in one of their hometown for a week - to create a few unique pieces. These pieces are created by one artist, and then are all glazed and fired by the host potter. |
