Dragonfly Bonsai Pots - England
By Graham N. Simpson
Dragonfly Bonsai Pots are artisan, hand-made containers made for bonsai by Graham Simpson of England.
Although Graham creates a variety of different forms, including cascade pots, round drum pots and ovals, his speciality lies with nanban style pots for bunjin / literati trees. Using groggy clays and by a variety of other methods, Dragonfly bonsai pots are often beautifully textured and compliment the aged bark of trees further with their rustic tones.
'The Japanese approach to aesthetics has been a constant influence in all of my interests. Be it the quiet appeal of a bunjin style pot or the minimalist, uncompromising nature of Kendo. They all have the same simple nature at their heart.
After the shiny new-ness of things becomes tired and no longer appeals - there is a quiet elegance in things that are nothing more than they need to be'.
