Walsall Studio Ceramics - England
By David Jones, Mark Jones, and Esther Griffiths
David Jones, Mark Jones, Esther Griffiths, ... and now with Bryan Albright too!
Currently run by David Jones and Mark Jones, W.S.C. was formed in 1986 by David Jones with the aid of the Prices Youth Business Trust, and has run full time as an internationally renowned bonsai ceramics studio for over 30 years now.
In 2005 Mark Jones joined David, and together with David’s father Ken Jones, they continued to expand the brand and range of pots. Recently Mark has been enjoying hand throwing pots on the wheel, and the results are quite spectacular.
Pots are created by a range of methods, including slip cast moulds, slab and coil techniques, and new designs are always being conceived and created. Custom-made pots are also made to a high standard for enthusiasts globally to meet a tree’s exact needs.
Esther Griffiths now works with WSC, and produces some superb handmade pieces for them. Previously she worked with prominent but now retired bonsai potter; Bryan Albright, and still works with occasionally with some of his glazes and moulds.
Bryan has stopped making pots on the whole. After a two year break however, he has returned to making a few superb nanban containers for Walsall Studio Ceramics & EBPC customers.
David also conducts pottery workshops, so customers can learn how it is done, and even make their own pot.
