Kingdom Bonsai Pots - Ireland
By Enda Coyne
Enda Coyne.
Born and raised in Castlebar, amongst the magical and rugged landscape of Co. Mayo, Ireland in the late 1980’s, Enda Coyne of Kingdom Bonsai Pots grew up in the outdoors and has always had a close affinity with nature. His passion for ceramics was born out of a need for pots for his own trees, mostly ‘yamadori material’ collected on his family boglands - Enda always has a keen eye out for good material on his endless hikes, camping and fishing trips.
Kingdom Bonsai Pots specialise mostly in one off, hand-thrown pots made on the potter’s wheel and carved to form. They are fired in an electric kiln, which was made by the artist and the pots are finished with an admirable attention to detail. Some sit on elegant and detailed carved feet, whilst the impressive glazes, inspired by the colors and textures of nature, are a particular passion to Enda and he enjoys continual experimentation and development.
In addition to wheel throwing, Enda also uses the slab building technique to create his works. He also enjoys creating rock formations, and much of his work is finished with sculpting and carving techniques.
