As far as the EBPC is concerned, Ian Baillie is a master of European bonsai pottery, and it is our pleasure and honour to make his work available to you.

Exquisite new Ian Baillie pots!

We have once again been very fortunate to be able to offer you the latest batch of exquisite pots by Ian Baillie - fresh out of the kiln.
This week, a few pots will be released each day from Wednesday - at 6pm (gmt). ... Thank you Ian, and enjoy these fantastic pots everyone!

Ian Baillie is a first-rate bonsai potter from near Edinburgh, in Scotland. He started to grow bonsai in 1974, and was instrumental in creating the Scottish Bonsai Association in 1978, which thrives to this day.

Since seeing John Naka in New York, and having studied drawing and painting, Ian went on to be a principal teacher of Art and Design, and he was inspired to create pots for the U.K., as he had seen in New York.

He has been producing bonsai pots now for over a generation, and is best known for his hand-thrown pots on his Swedish kick-powered wheel, and all pots are fired in his electric kiln to 1260 degrees C. He also however hand-builds a diverse range of shapes and forms, such as; rectangles, ovals, cascades, nanban, and free form containers.

The glazes are superbly made and applied; producing some really quite beautiful pieces, some of which have a fantastic aged / patina look to them. His pots are highly regarded and complement trees in competitions across Europe.

‘Pottery has its own magic where the alchemy of the elements of Air, Earth, Fire and Water combine to make an object of beauty which can be used to harmoniously enhance the display of a fine bonsai tree. It's this that gives me the buzz that sustains my creativity.’

European Bonsai San Exhibition (EBBS) at Saulieu - Next weekend, the 12th/13th October 2019!!

The EBPC are very excited to be attending and supporting one of Europe's premiere shows, and one of our personal favourites - the EBBS in Saulieu France next weekend. This is an open hall exhibition with everything in one enormous room. The ex-cattle market has imposing vaulted ceiling beams and ample light flooding in, making it an ideal venue.
This exhibition has improved year on year and the standard of trees, demonstrations and traders is superb. The organisers have also done an incredible job creating a show with a warm friendly atmosphere.
With many of Europe's finest trees on show, and demonstrators on the level of Bjorn Bjorholm, Mauro Stemberg, and Jan Culek, including many other attractions (superb new EBPC pots for example!) this is a show not to be missed!

A beautiful handmade EBPC trophy kindly made by leading ceramist Sabine Besnard of France will be awarded to the winner of the category 'Best European Bonsai Pot and Tree Combination'. The trophy is of an Ume branch in flower ,with a matching bowl on wood, and is laser etched and has both the stamps of Sabine and the EBPC.

As with each year, the EBPC will also donate a prize for the increasingly popular 'Tombola raffle'. This year a stunning pot by the fantastic and highly skilled artist, Ian Baillie of Scotland will be donated and taken home by one lucky winner.

We are especially excited about the EBPC trade stand this year, as we ave had some fantastic new pots in especially for this event, by some of the most sought after artists in Europe! .. Be sure to stop by the stand and say 'hi'!
